Is 6B suitable for students?

• Yes, particularly for secondary students and above who are working on drawing and tonal studies. It responds to very light pressure, which is good for developing sensitivity to mark-making. It's not recommended for writing.

Does 6B smear a lot?

• 6B is the softest grade and will smear if dragged across. Using a piece of scrap paper under your hand while drawing, or working from top to bottom on the page, helps manage this. Fixative spray can be used to protect finished work.

How is 6B different from 4B?
